- Description
- From Manassas to Appomattox is for a standard Wind Quintet and was written in 2012 for the West Point Woodwind Quintet. It lasts just under 1 minute.
It was written for the Sesquicentennial commemoration of the American Civil War, the first battle being that of Manassas in 1861 and the last being Appomattox in 1865. The five instruments initially play independent themes, suggesting the conflict, and alternate with slow music, suggesting surrender of the various battles, and eventual resolution.
